A handcrafted wire-wrapped pendant. Dark, antiqued copper wire frames the stone in a clean oval silhouette, detailed with coiled wire wraps along the lower-left border and horizontal binding wraps on the right. At the top crown of the stone, twin wire curves loop gracefully inward, terminating in a centered spiral flourish below a heavily woven antiqued copper bail.

The green mark isn't an allergic reaction—it's just a harmless reaction between copper, your skin's natural acids, and sweat. It creates non-toxic copper salts on the skin that wash right off with regular soap and water.

How to Prevent It:

• Keep skin dry: Avoid wearing your pendant while working out, showering, or in high heat.

• Apply lotion first: Let perfumes, lotions, and oils absorb completely into your skin before putting your pendant on.

• Wear over clothing: Style your pendant over a top or sweater so it doesn't sit directly against bare skin.

• Seal the back: Apply a coat of clear jewelry sealer, microcrystalline wax, or even clear nail polish to the back of the pendant to create a protective barrier.

Unsealed, oxidized copper develops a rich, organic patina that continues to evolve over time as it reacts with air, moisture, and skin oils. Here is how to clean, restore, and preserve your piece without stripping away its natural character.

Everyday Care & Handling

• Keep it dry: Remove before showering, swimming, working out, or applying lotion and perfume. Moisture accelerates tarnish and can cause green skin discoloration (copper carbonate).

• Wipe after wearing: Sweat and oils build up quickly. Wipe it down with a soft, dry microfiber or flannel cloth at the end of the day.

• Storage: Store in an airtight zip-top bag with an anti-tarnish strip or a piece of chalk to absorb ambient humidity.

Cleaning & Preserving the Patina

If the dark patina becomes dull, dirty, or uneven, restore its luster without stripping the oxidized finish:

• Gentle Buffing (Recommended): Use a specialized jewelry polishing cloth (like a Sunshine Cloth) treated with mild micro-abrasives. Lightly buff the high points of the pendant to highlight the metallic contrast while leaving the dark oxidation deep in the recessed details.

• Mild Soap Wash: For grime buildup, wash briefly in lukewarm water with a drop of mild dish soap. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush to gently clear debris, rinse thoroughly, and dry completely with a soft towel immediately. Avoid acidic natural cleaners like lemon or vinegar, as they will strip the dark oxidized patina entirely.

Sealing Options (If You Decide to Protect It)

If you want to freeze the oxidation level or prevent skin discoloration, seal the pendant using one of these methods:

• Microcrystalline Wax (Renaissance Wax): The gold standard for metalwork. Rub a paper-thin layer onto the copper, let it dry for a few minutes, and buff gently with a microfiber cloth. It creates an invisible, water-repellent barrier without altering the metallic sheen.

• Clear Jewelry Coating: For a permanent seal, apply 1–2 thin coats of a specialized clear spray or liquid polish designed for jewelry.
